AA Investments Buys Rose Inc for $2.5 Million

Hong Kong–based asset management firm AA Investments bought the Rose Inc makeup brand created by model-turned-businesswoman Rose Huntington-Whiteley in the Amyris bankruptcy auction.

WHO: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, model turned businesswoman who founded beauty commerce destination Rose Inc in 2018, partnered with Amyris creating the new Clean Beauty Collaborative to develop a range of products using the brand Rose Inc and expand the Rose Inc content platform. Caroline Hadfield, President of Amyris’ clean skincare ingredients business, acted as the Chief Executive Officer of Clean Beauty Collaborative, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was Chief Creative Officer. The clean makeup range launched in August of 2021 with Sephora. 

AA Investments is a Hong Kong–based asset management firm founded in 2020.

WHY: Amyris filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in August. The Rose Inc brand was auctioned off as part of the Amyris bankruptcy proceedings.

DETAILS:

  • AA Investments (HK) Ltd. bought Rose Inc, the joint venture with supermodel Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Amyris, for $2.5 million.
  • Industry insiders say Rosie Huntington-Whiteley will no longer be affiliated with the brand.
